Information on Installers
Our basic tool is an RMM. It’s call a Remote Management tool. Allows us to do things we’d normally have to show up to do.
This software provides two basic functions.
- Remote Support: The program is installed into your machine, the icon will show up on the taskbar. Should you have an issue you need help with, you can either pick up the phone and call us, or you can click on the icon and request assistance by opening a support ticket from that icon. We’ll get a message and contact you, usually by phone or via a built in chat application. If you need remote support, we’ll click on a link in our support portal, you will see a pop up on your screen requesting permission to access your desktop remotely. You’ll make a decision at that point to allow or decline the assist (If by some chance you figured out your concern before we reached out). Once we terminate the connection, we’ll need to again request access the next time you need something resolved.
- NOTE: Obviously, this is a description of the functionality of the program, not your organization’s policy. You’ll need to defer to Laura to determine if and when it’s appropriate to reach out to us directly. She may wish to reach out herself, or designate someone in house for you to go to. That has yet to be determined.
- Hardware/System Information: The software runs in the background and performs hardware audits and if requested, and also manage time and dates to allow system updates, etc. This gives us information we may need during a remote support call and provides needed information to the organization on the health of your device.Basically, it is a financial tool designed to protect the organization from lack of security updates, outdated software such as antivirus, hard disk errors, memory errors etc - Items that the computer often has hidden alerts for. Additionally, if you have something like a system alert that you normally would not see unless you were digging around in your event viewer looking for errors, you would never see.It is designed to audit hardware, system, and security issues. It gives us age, warranty information, serial numbers, hard drive size, memory size, resource utilization (ex: your hard drive is cranking at 100%, your processor is overheating X_percent of the time, etc.).
